Quarterly Round Up: The Gordian Booth
Check out what I’ve been up to over the last few months and the shows I’ve attended.
Crown Point Gun and Knife Show
I went back to Crown Point for a few shows this quarter in September and January. This is always a fun show since I’m able to meet so many people and teach them about my craft and the details I put into each of my handmade knives. I recommend attending this show since there are about 300 tables and if you like a variety of guns, knives, survival items, etc - you’ll definitely find something you like.
Kankakee Gun and Sportsman Show
This was my first time at this show in Kankakee but it was a great event! It was on the smaller side with about 100 tables, but there were vendors selling all different types of guns and knives. I was one of the only handmade knifemakers at the show, so it was great to showcase my items and teach people about custom knives. This is also where I met the guys from Midgard Entertainment and started an amazing partnership to offer my knives in their store! I’m eager to get back to this show sometime soon!
Union Grove Gun Show
This was my first event I’ve attended in Wisconsin and was excited to attend something a bit more local! This was one of the smaller events I’ve attended with less than 100 tables, but I was the only custom knifemaker there. I’m happy to offer something different to the people that attend these shows and may not be familiar with custom knives and the craftsmanship and detail I put into each blade.
Dunes Rifle and Pistol Club Gun Show
I headed to Valparaiso, Indiana for this show that is only offered twice a year and is one of the larger shows in the area with over 300 tables. This was a pretty busy show despite the snowy weather and we will definitely be back next year! Most of the vendors here are selling guns, but there are quite a few knife vendors as well. Unfortunately, there are many dealers that are offering cheap products made overseas that won’t last past one use, so I love to educate those that stop by my table about the benefits of handmade knives.
Elkhorn Gun Show
What a great show! This was our second show in Wisconsin and it was pretty small but had such a great turnout. I was the only custom knifemaker there and there was a ton of interest in my knives. I love getting inspiration from the people that stop by my booth since it helps me come up with new ideas I may not have tried before or a certain style of knife that is frequently requested. All the vendors were incredibly friendly and selling a ton of cool items - you will definitely have a great time walking around and checking everything out. I’m excited to come back to this show next year since it’s very local to me and was successful.
Thanks for stopping by and stay sharp folks!
